Flow Separation Control of Nacelle Inlets in Crosswinds by Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Actuation

Crosswinds will lead to large-scale flow separation in the nacelle inlets, which seriously affects flight safety of aircraft; there is an urgent need develop control measures. As a plasma method, application surface dielectric barrier discharge field inlet great significance for improving intake quality. Based on characteristic law baseline field, effect experiments with NS-DBD, and influence actuation frequency discussed. A comparative experimental study NS-DBD AC-DBD carried out. Finally, mechanisms both are The results show that under condition velocity wind tunnel 35 m/s crosswind angle 10°, average total pressure loss coefficient distortion index decrease by 29.62% 44.14% actuation. At same time, exists inherent optimal coupling better than AC-DBD. mainly through shock waves induced vortices, while generation near-wall jets reduce inverse gradient improve separation.
